Marco Tagliasacchi, born in 1978, received the "Laurea" degree (2002, cum Laude) in Computer Engineering and the Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (2006), from Politecnico di Milano, Italy. In 2004 he was visiting scholar at UC Berkeley. In 2007, he joined the "Dipartimento di Elettronica e Informazione - Politecnico di Milano", where he is currently Assistant Professor. From January to May 2012, he will be visiting researcher at the Imperial College of London. His research interests include multimedia communications (video coding and quality assessment), multimedia forensics and information retrieval. He co-authored several papers in international journals and conferences, including award winning papers at MMSP 2009, QoMex 2009 and ICIP 2011. 
Dr. Tagliasacchi is currently co-coordinating the FP7 FET-Open project REWIND (, 2011-2014). Dr. Tagliasacchi has been involved as scientific investigator in several other EU-funded projects, including SCENIC, CUBRIK, SeCo and VISNET.
Dr. Tagliasacchi is an elected member of the IEEE MMSP Technical Committee for the term 2010-2012. He is member of the IEEE Signal Processing Society (since 2004) and Computer Society (since 2009). He serves as Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technologies (since 2010) and APSIPA Transactions on Signal and Information Processing (since 2011). He is guest editor of a special issue to appear on the Journal of Visual Communication and Image Representation. 
Dr. Tagliasacchi will be General co-Chair of the IEEE Workshop on Multimedia Signal Processing 2013. Dr. Tagliasacchi served in the Organizing Committee of the ACM/IEEE International Conference on Distributed Smart Cameras (ICDSC) 2009 and Digital Audio Effects (DAFx) 2009. He was member of the Technical Program Committee of ACM Multimedia 2009-2010, IEEE Workshop on Multimedia Signal Processing (MMSP) 2009-2011, and Area Chair (Perception and Quality Models for Video and Images) at the IEEE International Conference on Image Processing 2011.
